Resident doctors at AIIMS, Delhi, and RML Hospital have officially ended their 11-day strike, which was in response to the rape and murder of a junior medic in Kolkata. The strike cessation follows an appeal and assurances provided by the Supreme Court.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court requested the doctors to resume their duties and guaranteed that no negative consequences would befall them upon their return. This prompted the Resident Doctors' Association at AIIMS to express their support for the court's intervention and emphasize their continued commitment to patient care.
Similar sentiments were echoed by the Resident Doctors' Association of RML Hospital, who stated that progress in addressing their concerns and the Supreme Court's proactive measures influenced their decision to return to work. The national strike initially began on August 12, disrupting outpatient services but maintaining emergency care. The ongoing investigation by the CBI into the tragic incident continues.
