Janata Dal (United) Member of Parliament Sanjay Kumar Jha has openly criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, questioning his leadership credentials in light of his comments regarding the recent liquor tragedy in Bihar. Jha highlighted Yadav's historical governance lapses, noting his absence from power for 15 years.
He further defended the current administration's efforts, led by Nitish Kumar, asserting that their two decades of governance have ensured electoral victories for the NDA. With an eye on the 2025 Assembly elections, Jha confidently stated, "We will win with a majority in 2025 too... People still have faith in Nitish Kumar."
This exchange comes against the backdrop of a grim incident where 33 individuals lost their lives due to illicit liquor in Bihar. The tragedy has reignited debates over the effectiveness of the controversial liquor ban. Opposition figures, like RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, allege the ban is rife with corruption, claiming an underground economy flourishes under the government's watch.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Chirag Paswan promised uncompromising action against those responsible, emphasizing ongoing investigations and recent arrests as proof of the government's resolve. "Those involved will face strict action, and no one will be exempt," Paswan assured.
