In a fiery exchange that unfolded this week, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav took aim at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his controversial remarks concerning Babasaheb Ambedkar. Yadav described Ambedkar as a symbol of both high fashion and deep passion, condemning the language Shah used in Parliament.
Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, asserted that the remarks reflected the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'narrow mindset'. He accused the BJP and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), of having no revered leaders of their own, instead focusing their energies on disrespecting figures like Ambedkar, Gandhi, and Nehru.
As the political controversy escalated, opposition members staged protests in Parliament. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati also waded into the debate, arguing that political parties should demonstrate genuine respect for Ambedkar rather than politically exploiting his legacy. She emphasized Ambedkar's significant role in providing legal rights to Dalits and marginalized communities.
