In a significant judicial decision, Manoj Gautam, a social worker from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, has been acquitted over allegations of murdering his brother Vinod Kumar in a case lodged in 2017. The verdict was delivered by Special Judge Vijay Pal on January 20.
The investigation indicated that Gautam and his co-accused were falsely implicated in FIR no-112, filed in 2017 under various sections of the IPC and Arms Act, as well as the SC & ST Act, at Police Station Khurja Nagar, Bulandshahr. The police investigation suggested that the FIR was motivated by political rivalry.
The court order highlighted the police's failure to establish circumstantial evidence and to prove that Gautam's licensed pistol was involved in the killing. With these insufficiencies, the court found Manoj Gautam not guilty. Gautam was a candidate for the Khurja Assembly seat from Rashtriya Lok Dal during the time of the incident. (ANI)
