BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari launched a fierce attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. Adhikari accused the state administration of being controlled by 'goons and rapists' and demanded Banerjee's resignation. He stated, 'There have been seven incidents since yesterday... Bengal is in the hands of goons and rapists... Mamata Banerjee is the root and the architect of this. Step Down, Mamata. She should resign. She is the main disease and virus in these types of incidents.'

Continuing his tirade, Adhikari asserted that the BJP would expose Banerjee, whom he holds responsible for the alarming state of law and order. He urged non-political citizens and doctors protesting the incident to address the root cause, 'Mamata Banerjee's resignation and President's rule is required... We BJP MLAs are ready to combat this situation. We will expose Mamata Banerjee...'

Meanwhile, West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya demanded the Central Bureau of Investigation build a robust case to ensure the 'rapist is hanged.' Protests led by the TMC followed the brutal rape and murder of the trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College on August 9. The incident has triggered a nationwide call for stricter security laws for healthcare professionals.

Doctors across various states have staged protests demanding justice and enhanced security measures. Following orders from the Calcutta High Court, the case was transferred to the CBI, leading to the arrest of Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer at the hospital.
