On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged significant protests outside the SDO Office in Siliguri, urgently demanding justice for the victim of a recent rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. They also clamored for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation.

A BJP protester, speaking to ANI, announced plans to protest at every block office in Bengal on September 4. 'Since the Chief Minister came to power, there has been no security for women in West Bengal. We demand justice for the RG Kar case and call for her resignation,' the protester asserted. The BJP also plans a chakka jam (road blockade) from 12 pm to 2 pm on September 6.

Earlier, junior doctors in Kolkata protested, demanding the immediate resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal in connection to the RG Kar case. In Alipurduar, BJP workers faced police water cannons while demonstrating. Protests were also seen outside the DM office in Kolkata's Alipore area.

These demonstrations reflect widespread outrage over the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. Doctors across various states have also been holding protests, pushing for justice and better security measures for healthcare professionals.

The tragic incident has fueled a war of words between the BJP and the state government, with BJP leaders repeatedly calling for Mamata Banerjee's resignation. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the case to be transferred from local police to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
