The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Warangal unit in Telangana apprehended a divisional engineer from the Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000, officials disclosed on Sunday. The suspect, Maloth Hussain Naik, serves as a divisional engineer in Jangaon district.

ACB officials detailed that Naik was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant to expedite the relocation of a 33 KV electricity line crossing the complainant's land. The bribe sum was recovered from the top right drawer of Naik's office desk. The accused is set to appear before the Hon'ble Special Court for SPE & ACB Cases-cum-III Additional District & Sessions Judge in Warangal, stated ACB officials.

The investigation into the case remains ongoing, and further updates are awaited.

In a concurrent operation on August 12, the ACB's Hyderabad unit apprehended assistant engineer Guguloth Gopal for accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000. Gopal, an assistant engineer and special officer of Gudikunta Thanda Gram Panchayat in the Palakurthy Section of the Irrigation Sub-Division in Jangaon, was caught near an SBI branch in Nakkalagutta. The bribe amount was discovered in the dashboard of his car, with a subsequent chemical test confirming the graft.
