Vadym Kudrytskyi, the head of Ukraine's power grid operator Ukrenergo, is set to be dismissed, according to a report by Forbes Ukraine on Friday, which cites four informed sources.
Despite the decision made during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and top officials, Kudrytskyi refused to hand in his resignation. Ukrenergo did not provide an immediate response to a Reuters request for comment.
The state-run Ukrenergo is tasked with securing Ukraine's electricity grid throughout the ongoing conflict with Russia, which has targeted the energy sector with multiple strikes. Most recently, Russia fired over 200 missiles and drones, predominantly targeting energy facilities, according to Kyiv officials.
The operator's crucial mission includes protecting power facilities and ensuring the swift restoration of damaged energy infrastructure.
