Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) announced on Thursday the acquisition of two project special purpose vehicles (SPVs) from PFC Consulting Ltd. The acquired SPVs, Sirohi Transmission Ltd and Beawar-Mandsaur Transmission Ltd, will spearhead key developments in India's transmission network.

Sirohi Transmission Ltd is set to implement a system entailing the establishment of a new 765/400 kV sub-station near Sirohi in Rajasthan, along with 765kV and 400kV D/C transmission lines and associated bays extension works at existing substations. Beawar-Mandsaur Transmission Ltd will focus on a 765kV D/C transmission line along with associated bays extension works in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Both transmission systems are slated for completion within 24 months. PFC Consulting Ltd served as the bid process coordinator, conducting a tariff-based competitive bidding. These projects are intended to bolster India's transmission infrastructure to accommodate green energy, aligning with the government's target of 500 GW renewable energy by 2030.
