In a disturbing development, a teacher from Akola, Maharashtra, has been arrested on allegations of harassing six schoolgirls. The principal, Ravindra Samdur, revealed that the school was unaware of the incident until the students reported the abuse following a school program.

"After the program, the teacher approached the students of classes 7-8. It was then that 4-5 girls reported the harassment," the principal stated. Earlier today, local police confirmed the arrest of the teacher, identified as Pramod Manohar Sardar, on molestation charges.

Superintendent of Police Akolka Bachchan Singh commented, "Police received a complaint against Sardar, a teacher at Zilla Parishad School in Kajikhed. He was promptly arrested, and the victim girls' statements were recorded. Cases under sections 74 and 75 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and POCSO Act have been registered."

The incident has sparked further investigations. This comes against the backdrop of nationwide protests over the alleged sexual assault and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata, and similar accusations in Maharashtra's Badlapur, leading to violent protests and police action.
