A 70-year-old shopkeeper named Mohammad Anwar was arrested on Wednesday in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, after a video allegedly showing him sexually assaulting a minor girl surfaced online.
The incident reportedly took place when the Dalit girl visited Anwar's shop on Tuesday. Her mother filed a complaint with the police, leading to Anwar's immediate arrest.
Additional SP Sitapur Prakash Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against Anwar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
