Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Mongolia on Tuesday, showing no signs that the host country would adhere to international calls for his arrest on charges of alleged war crimes connected to the invasion of Ukraine.
This trip marks Putin's first visit to a member of the International Criminal Court since they issued an arrest warrant for him approximately 18 months ago.
Before his arrival, Ukraine urged Mongolia to hand Putin over to the court in The Hague, while the European Union voiced concerns that Mongolia might not comply with the warrant. However, last week, a Kremlin spokesperson downplayed any worries.
