Nationwide Protests Erupt After Trainee Doctor's Tragic Murder in Kolkata
Congress workers and doctors nationwide organized candle marches and protests, demanding justice for the murdered trainee doctor in Kolkata. The Supreme Court criticized media for revealing the victim's identity and formed a task force for medical professionals' safety.

Congress workers in West Bengal's Siliguri organized a candle march on Tuesday to protest the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Protestors marched with posters, demanding justice for the victims. The evening event saw significant participation, including many youngsters.
Simultaneously, Hyderabad doctors held a candle march and 'Nukkad Natak' (street play) on Tuesday. A protestor told ANI that despite the ongoing CBI investigation, resistance from the state government remains. However, doctors remain hopeful about the CBI probe.
In Shimla, several doctors marched towards the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat on Tuesday, echoing demands for justice. The Supreme Court had earlier directed social media platforms and electronic media to immediately remove the name, photos, and videos of the Kolkata victim from their platforms.
A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, noted unauthorized revelation of the victim's identity on various platforms. The court issued an injunctive order and constituted a 10-member National Task Force to recommend measures for preventing violence and ensuring safe working conditions for medical professionals.
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. (ANI)
