A man in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, murdered his 19-year-old daughter over her relationship with a married man, local police reported on Saturday. The incident occurred late Friday near the Virpur Dam area, within the Girwai police station's jurisdiction. The father strangled his daughter and later confessed at the police station.

According to ASP Niranjan Sharma, a case has been registered against the father. Six months ago, the young woman had eloped with a married man, Narendra Jatav, who has two children. Recently, she was found in Udaipur, Rajasthan, and handed back to her family. She had expressed a desire to return home.

The father claimed that his daughter wanted to marry Jatav, despite the family's attempts to dissuade her. Agitated by her persistence, he used a safa (cotton gamcha) to strangle her. ASP Sharma added that Jatav is reportedly missing, with suspicions of kidnapping by the woman's brother. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and the investigation continues.
