Speaking at a roundtable organized by the Pune-based Gravitas Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF, Azmi stressed the importance of eliminating patriarchal mindsets and ensuring equality for women. She pointed to the continued prevalence of sexual assault cases since the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case.
Azmi remarked on the need for non-selective outrage, critiquing society's tendency to politicize certain cases while ignoring others. She highlighted recent incidents, including the alleged rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata and the sexual assault of two young girls in Badlapur, stressing the urgency for change.
