External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday shared a poignant personal connection to a 1984 hijacking incident, during a community event.

Responding to a question regarding the recent TV series 'IC814: The Kandahar Hijack,' Jaishankar revealed that his father was on a hijacked flight in 1984, offering him a unique dual perspective on the situation both as a government official and a family member.

He explained that, as a young IFS officer, he was intimately involved in managing the hijack crisis while simultaneously dealing with the anxiety and pressure on his family, given that his father was amongst the passengers. The event, he noted, provided him with a rare insight into the complexities faced by both the government and affected families during such crises.
