Russia's defence ministry has accused Ukraine of preparing to attack the Kursk nuclear power plant and to pin the blame on Moscow, according to a report by the Interfax news agency.
The ministry warned of a strong retaliatory response if such an attack were to occur, highlighting the potential for significant contamination around the area. The accusation comes after Ukraine's military incursion into the Kursk region in early August, which led to claims of control over numerous settlements.
Despite these developments, the Kursk nuclear power plant continues to be under Russian control.
