Water Contamination Crises in Supertech Eco Village-2

A water contamination issue in Supertech Eco Village-2 has affected 400 residents, causing symptoms like fever, dehydration, and stomach aches. Health camps have been established for aid, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities await water sample results to determine the source of contamination.

Contamination in drinking water has impacted 400 residents in the Supertech Eco Village-2 residential society, according to Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Sunil Kumar Sharma. Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, CMO Sharma explained that while they were informed of 400 affected individuals, not all have sought medical attention. Symptoms reported include fever, dehydration, and stomach aches, though not all cases are confirmed to be waterborne.

Parul, a resident of Supertech Eco Village, told ANI that inhabitants were unaware of the water contamination initially. "A message circulated in our WhatsApp group mentioned a neighbor's son experiencing loose motions and fever due to the contaminated water. Many of us are facing similar issues," she said.

District Magistrate (DM) Manish Kumar Verma said that they received information about the contamination on Sunday night, prompting the establishment of health camps to assist those affected. "Our teams are conducting health check-ups and we have collected water samples for testing. We will proceed with further investigations once we receive the results. There are no alarming situations reported yet," Verma stated. Devesh Pratap Singh, another resident, added, "Both my children have been suffering from contamination since Sunday night, and we are facing numerous challenges. We are here to seek medication and proper treatment."
