The Border Security Force (BSF), along with an anti-human trafficking team and intelligence units, apprehended 10 Bangladeshi nationals who attempted to hide their identities using fake Aadhaar cards on Tuesday. This operation was part of a special drive to target Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in the area. Based on specialized intelligence input, small operational teams conducted searches at suspected sites within Amtali and Dukli in West Tripura.

At approximately 0515 hours, the BSF team, alongside sister agencies, successfully detained four female Bangladeshi nationals, including a baby. By around 0800 hours, the joint task force further apprehended an additional six Bangladeshi nationals, along with one suspected Indian tout, based on initial leads. Despite their initial attempts to present fake Aadhaar cards and claim Indian nationality, all detainees eventually admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals during preliminary questioning, as confirmed by a BSF statement.

Interrogation is currently underway by the BSF and Government Railway Police (GRP). In parallel, the BSF is intensifying its crackdown on tout networks facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Tripura. Later in the day, another group of 16 Bangladeshi nationals, comprising 13 men and three women, was apprehended at the Agartala Railway Station. Among them, three individuals have been identified as Bangladeshi touts actively involved in illegal activities and have been detained by local authorities. A case has been registered at the Agartala Government Railway Police Station under multiple legal sections.
