Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend his focus to Manipur following his inspection of the Wayanad landslide disaster site. Speaking to ANI, Ramesh emphasized the dire situation in Wayanad where nearly 300 lives were lost, pushing for it to be declared a national disaster. Ramesh stated, "It would be good if he also goes to Manipur."

During the short Parliament session, numerous budget-related issues were discussed, with the INDIA bloc raising significant concerns. Ramesh criticized the government for ignoring states not governed by National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parties in the budget. He also accused ministers of providing misleading information and highlighted Rahul Gandhi's active engagement with various societal delegations.

The Congress general secretary further urged Prime Minister Modi to personally address an all-party meeting on the Bangladesh issue, despite acknowledging External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's call for such a session.

Prime Minister Modi, accompanied by CM Pinarayi Vijayan, conducted an aerial survey of the landslide-hit areas in Wayanad, including the worst-affected regions of Punchirimattam, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala. Following the aerial review, Modi visited the affected sites to oversee relief operations and meet with victims. He is expected to lead a detailed review meeting on the ongoing rehabilitation efforts.

Massive landslides struck Chooralmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad on July 30, resulting in significant devastation. The district administration reported recovering 226 bodies and 403 body parts from the disaster site.
