NCB Guwahati Busts Major Drug Trafficking Rings: Seizes Over 941 kg of Narcotics

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Guwahati Zonal unit has dismantled two significant inter-state drug trafficking syndicates, resulting in the seizure of over 934 kg of Ganja and nearly 7 kg of Methamphetamine. Four individuals have been apprehended in two successful operations occurring in just over a week.

In a significant operations, sleuths from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Guwahati Zonal unit have cracked down on an inter-state drug trafficking racket, seizing 934.510 kg of Ganja and apprehending a key individual. The suspect has been identified as Surjit Singh from Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on special intelligence and days of continuous surveillance, the NCB Guwahati Zonal Unit succeeded in identifying and dismantling a syndicate involved in trafficking Ganja from Senapati in Manipur to Kolkata, West Bengal. On August 2, NCB agents arrested Singh near a roadside eatery in Assam's Kamrup district while he was en route to Kolkata in a truck. A search revealed 934.510 kg of Ganja concealed in a specially designed cavity of the vehicle, according to a press statement by the Zonal Director of NCB, Guwahati.

In an earlier operation on July 23, the NCB Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 6.790 kg of Methamphetamine and apprehended two individuals following several days of surveillance based on special intelligence. The suspects, identified as Gouzalal Singson and Thangminlun Lhungdim, were caught while transporting the drugs from Churachandpur, Manipur to Shillong, Meghalaya.
