Mizoram police have made a major drug bust, seizing 4 lakh Methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 5 crore. The operation was executed based on specific intelligence.
On Tuesday, a CID (Special Branch) team intercepted a goods carrier truck near Kulikawn East Presbyterian Church in a covert operation. The team discovered 39.257 kg of Methamphetamine, concealed inside 17 electric air coolers.
The contraband originated from Zokhawthar in east Mizoram's Champhai district near the Myanmar border. The driver and the receiver, aged 34 and 28 respectively, were arrested at the scene and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
