In a strategic move to bolster Ujjain's appeal as a spiritual hub, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav confirmed the construction of permanent ashrams for saints. These will be developed akin to the facilities in Haridwar, enhancing the city's religious infrastructure.
The announcement aligns with preparations for the Simhastha Mela in 2028, a major religious gathering occurring every 12 years. Yadav emphasized the necessity for proper lodging and facilities for sadhus during this significant event, and outlined comprehensive plans for infrastructural development.
Key projects include improved roads, bridges, and transportation links, alongside the establishment of Dharamshalas, medical, and ayurvedic centers. The Ujjain Development Authority will oversee these initiatives, aimed at transforming Ujjain into a premier religious destination.
