Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday engaged with 'Lakhpati Didis'—women from self-help groups earning Rs 1 lakh annually—in Maharashtra's Jalgaon. The event saw the felicitation of 11 lakh new members who attained this milestone during the third term of his government.

Upon arriving in Jalgaon, Modi was greeted by a group of women before interacting with several members of various self-help groups (SHGs).

Officials stated that these SHGs are involved in the livestock sector, and some are working under government schemes like 'Krishi Sakhi' and 'NAMO Drone Didi'. SHGs play a crucial role in skill development and local employment generation across rural areas.

The Jalgaon event also featured the release of a revolving fund worth Rs 2,500 crore, benefiting approximately 48 lakh members from 4.3 lakh SHGs. Additionally, Modi will disburse bank loans amounting to Rs 5,000 crore to benefit 25.8 lakh members from 2.35 lakh SHGs.

Since the scheme's inception, one crore women have become 'Lakhpati Didis', and the government aims to reach a target of 3 crore members.
