Germany's Warship Plays Darth Vader's Theme in London: No Hidden Message

Germany's Navy clarified that there was no hidden message behind playing Darth Vader's theme from the 'Star Wars' films as their warship cruised down the River Thames. The song choice, captured by a bystander and shared widely on social media, was made by the ship's Star Wars-loving commander.

Germany's Navy explained there was "no deeper message" behind playing the famous Imperial March, Darth Vader's theme song from 'Star Wars', as one of its warships navigated the River Thames in London this week.

Captured on video by a bystander on Monday, the spectacle quickly went viral on social media. The German Navy clarified that the ship was in the area for training and had anchored in London for a routine supply stop.

The ship, named Braunschweig, also played 'London Calling', a hit from British rock band The Clash, upon its arrival. According to the German Embassy in London, the ship's commander, an avid 'Star Wars' fan and admirer of composer John Williams, selects a different Williams tune whenever the ship visits a foreign harbor.
