The nation mourns the death of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia, Pappu Yadav, expressed concerns over the immense loss, emphasizing Yechury's role as a symbol of social justice and economic revolution. 'It's not good – neither for the country nor for humanity – that good people die early. Fewer people are left with such ideas, and it weakens the voice of the poor,' Yadav told ANI on Thursday.

JDU leader Neeraj Kumar echoed similar sentiments, calling Yechury's demise a significant loss to national politics. 'The demise of Sitaram Yechury is not only a loss to the ideological struggle of national politics but also to the international forums where he represented the nation. His effective role in fostering consensus amidst disagreements is irreplaceable,' Kumar said. Condolences poured in from the political fraternity as the 72-year-old breathed his last at AIIMS hospital in Delhi on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Yechury a 'leading light of the left.' In a post on X, PM Modi highlighted Yechury's ability to connect across the political spectrum and his effectiveness as a parliamentarian. 'Saddened by the passing away of Sitaram Yechury Ji. He was known for his ability to connect across the political spectrum. He made a mark as an effective parliamentarian. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti,' wrote the Prime Minister.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her grief, recognizing Yechury's influential voice. 'Saddened to learn about the demise of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. As a student leader, national politician, and parliamentarian, he had a distinct and influential voice. Though a committed ideologue, he won friends across party lines. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues,' President Murmu wrote on X.
