Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Wednesday expressed hope that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will soon be released from jail with the community's support and be present to lay the foundation stone of a new academic block in the Maidangarhi area. The minister was in Maidangarhi to inaugurate an academic block at a government school.

At the event, Atishi announced plans for constructing another academic block to help children without access to quality education. She noted that the women of Delhi had fasted and prayed for Kejriwal's release. Atishi expressed optimism that with public support, Kejriwal would soon be out of jail and present for the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

Kejriwal is currently incarcerated at Tihar jail in connection with a corruption case linked to an alleged excise policy scam under investigation by the CBI. Atishi claimed to be delighted to inaugurate the new academic block amidst challenges in a densely populated area where previously, 65 students shared a single classroom without adequate facilities.

Addressing reporters, Atishi also spoke on the severe waterlogging problem near the Zakhira Railway Underpass in West Delhi, which disrupts traffic. She emphasized the lack of drainage on railway land despite continuous discussions over two years and the Delhi government's financial contributions. Atishi mentioned writing to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging for a prompt resolution.
