The suspect fled in an SUV but was later apprehended in a neighboring county, local law enforcement reported. An AK-style firearm was discovered at the scene, officials confirmed. The golf course was partially secured for Trump when agents detected the armed individual and opened fire.
Trump's campaign and the Secret Service confirmed his safety and announced an investigation into the incident. The White House stated that President Biden and Vice President Harris were briefed and expressed relief at Trump's safety. No injuries were reported.
