Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Tuesday inaugurated two academic blocks of a government school, Vishwamitra Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, in northeast Delhi's Old Seemapuri area. The school now boasts six laboratories, two libraries, and a lift, making it easier for students to access all floors.

Speaking at the event, Atishi highlighted that the Delhi government is pioneering the installation of lifts in government schools, aiming to improve accessibility for students. The new four-story academic blocks include state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries, and fully-equipped laboratories.

The enhancements address the issue of overcrowded classrooms in the densely populated Old Seemapuri area. The number of students per classroom is expected to drop from 60 to 40, enhancing the learning environment.

Minister Atishi also emphasized the improvements in Delhi government schools under the AAP administration. She recalled that a decade ago, these schools were in poor condition with broken furniture and a foul smell. She praised the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal for the transformations that have now seen government schools surpass even private institutions.

The minister also noted that teachers are no longer burdened with non-teaching duties like surveys, which previously affected educational quality. Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel was also in attendance.
