The Hindu community in Pakistan, particularly in the north-western city of Peshawar and the southern city of Karachi, celebrated the Raksha Bandhan festival with great enthusiasm. A Hindu Senator from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Krishna Kumari, tied a Rakhi to her party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Makeshift stalls selling colorful and diverse Rakhi bracelets appeared inside several temples in anticipation of the festival. Vendors also sold other items used in worship.

Senator Kumari shared a video of herself tying the Rakhi to PPP leader Bilawal on social media, expressing her wishes for the festival and tagging his sisters, Aseefa Zardari and Bakhtawar B Zardari.

In Peshawar, the festival was celebrated under tight security, with police contingents ensuring a peaceful observance around temples and cantonment areas.

A large number of Hindu women and young girls gathered at a temple in Jhanda Bazar for early pooja and prepared for Aarti. They tied Rakhi to their brothers, who reciprocated with gifts.

Married women carried out the sacred ritual by visiting their brothers' homes to tie Rakhi, praying for their protection.

In Lahore, similar celebrations took place at the historic Krishna Temple, where siblings participated in the rituals, according to the local TV channel BoldaPunjab.
