NEPRA Fines K-Electric PKR10 Million Over Karachi Electrocutions
NEPRA has fined K-Electric PKR10 million for electrocution cases leading to 33 deaths in Karachi from 2022 to 2023. K-Electric's response was rejected, and the fine is to be deposited within 15 days. Additionally, K-Electric must compensate the victims' families and employ one of the victims' heirs.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed a PKR10 million fine on K-Electric (KE) following a significant rise in electrocution cases, according to ARY News.
NEPRA levied the fine due to electrocution incidents in Karachi from 2022 to 2023, resulting in 33 fatalities. K-Electric's reply to the show-cause notice was dismissed, and the fine must be paid within 15 days.
In addition, NEPRA has mandated K-Electric to provide PKR3.5 million compensation to the families of each victim and to employ Muhammad Aslam, an heir of one of the victims. Despite these measures, K-Electric maintains it was not at fault in any of the 32 electrocution cases.
