Lynch, previously acquitted in a major US fraud trial in June, was among those unaccounted for after the British-flagged Bayesian met its fate near Porticello, where a powerful waterspout wreaked havoc. Lynch's wife and 14 passengers were rescued, as rescue operations are ongoing.

One body has been recovered close to the yacht's 50-meter deep hull. Efforts by police divers to reach the wreckage involve multiple emergency services, who continue their diligent search to locate the missing individuals.
