Twenty students from Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Meghalaya, Odisha, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhi to armed forces personnel at the India-China border in Sikkim on Monday.
The event was organized by the Hemant Yadav Foundation and took place at Nathu La (14,250 feet altitude) and Lungthung (12,500 feet altitude). It aimed to honor the Indian Army and Seema Suraksha Bal personnel stationed in these high-altitude areas. According to the Foundation's statement, the students' visit helped boost the soldiers' morale, as they stand guard at the border far from their homes and families.
The foundation's statement highlighted the excitement of the students upon meeting the soldiers, who shared insights about their work and survival strategies in sub-zero temperatures. The soldiers also encouraged the youth to consider joining the Indian Army.
