Former Odisha chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged students to actively use social media to combat the spread of misinformation and false promises allegedly made by the ruling BJP. Speaking at the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal's gathering at the party's state headquarters, Patnaik emphasized correcting public misconceptions.
Highlighting specific examples, Patnaik pointed out BJP's unfulfilled pledges such as free electricity up to 300 units, a Rs 3,000 pension for social security beneficiaries, and substantial financial promises to women, stating these as misleading electoral tactics. He urged students to make the public aware of these discrepancies.
Patnaik also called for students to engage in social activities including blood donation and environmental protection. Lauding the BJD's 27-year tenure in Odisha, he emphasized the party's role in establishing educational institutions and offering scholarships, which have fostered a knowledge-driven society. He cited success stories like NEET-cracker Mangala Muduli as evidence of BJD's inclusive education strategy.
