A male teacher at a civic school in Bhiwandi, Thane district, Maharashtra, has been arrested for allegedly showing obscene videos to girl students on his mobile phone, police officials reported Thursday. The accused, Muzammil, was apprehended on Wednesday following a complaint from the parents of a seventh-grade girl.
The student's parents were alerted after the school's headmaster inquired about her frequent tardiness. Initially silent about the issue, the girl later confided to her parents that she had lost the desire to attend school due to the inappropriate behavior of the teacher, who allegedly not only showed her obscene videos but also misbehaved with her and other female students.
Responding to the complaint, the police registered an FIR against the teacher who has now been booked under section 74 and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation into the case is ongoing, according to senior inspector Vinayak Gaikwad of Shanti Nagar police station.
