At least 23 individuals sustained injuries when two gondolas of a Ferris Wheel ignited at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig, Germany, according to news agency dpa on Sunday.
Officials reported that the fire originated in one gondola on Saturday night, subsequently spreading to a second. Four people received burn injuries, while another was hurt in a fall. First responders and four police officers were among those evaluated at a hospital for potential smoke inhalation, dpa noted.
The incident occurred at the Highfield Festival at Stoermthaler Lake near Leipzig. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, with no updated information on the victims' conditions as of Sunday morning, and the exact number of casualties remains uncertain, dpa reported.
The Ferris Wheel's operator told dpa that no passengers were in the initial gondola where the fire began.
