Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has welcomed the Allahabad High Court's directive to draft a new selection list for the appointment of 69,000 assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. She asserted that the ruling exposes the state government's failures in fair recruitment processes.
The court has annulled the selection lists released in June 2020 and January 2022, which had shortlisted 6,800 candidates. The Uttar Pradesh government has been directed to produce a fresh selection list within three months.
In response, Mayawati posted on X, saying that the court's decision proves the state's recruitment process was compromised and urged for justice, particularly for reserved category candidates. She criticized the BJP government for its poor record on recruitment transparency, highlighting the adverse effects on the education system due to insufficient recruitment of assistant teachers.
