All government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres in Dehradun, will remain closed on July 26 due to an 'orange' alert for heavy rain issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), a senior official announced on Thursday.

District Magistrate Sonika issued an official order detailing the closure as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents. The alert, which includes heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, prompted the decision.

According to Sonika, the increased risk of landslides in the district due to heavy rainfall is a significant concern, necessitating the closure to protect the safety of residents.
