A Vistara Airlines flight from Mumbai to Frankfurt made an emergency landing in Erzurum, Turkey, on Friday after a note with 'bomb on board' was discovered in a lavatory, according to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Two bomb disposal experts and a search dog are inspecting the aircraft, Yerlikaya stated. The plane's 234 passengers and 13 crew members were safely evacuated. 'Vistara flight UK 27, operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt, was diverted due to a security concern raised by our crew,' confirmed a Vistara spokesperson in a statement to Reuters.
Authorities were promptly alerted and cooperation with security agencies is ongoing to complete mandatory security checks. Erzurum Airport has suspended all landings and take-offs until 9 p.m. local time, noted Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
