Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two new Vande Bharat train services in the Southern Railway region on August 31 via video conferencing, according to officials.

One of the services will connect Dr MGR Chennai Central to Nagercoil, while the other will link Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment, the release stated. The initial Nagercoil-bound service will be flagged off from Dr MGR Chennai Central, with regular service from Chennai Egmore thereafter. This service will operate daily except Wednesday, departing Chennai Egmore at 5 am and arriving at Nagercoil at 1.50 pm, making stops at several key stations en route.

The Vande Bharat service between Madurai and Bengaluru Cantonment will run six days a week, excluding Tuesday. Train No 20671 will leave Madurai at 5.15 am, reaching Bengaluru Cantonment at 1 pm. The return journey starts at 1.30 pm from Bengaluru Cantonment, arriving in Madurai by 9.45 pm, with multiple stops along the route.
