Food loss and waste have become a global issue worldwide, threatening food security through its multifaceted aspects which have an economic, social, technical, managerial, and public health impact.
According to research studies, if only 1/4th of the food wasted could be saved then it would be enough to feed all currently undernourished people around the world.
Reducing food waste and losses can lead to sustainable food security by improving food availability and food access, without increasing agricultural inputs and additional costs to the food chain.
