India Advances in EV Testing With New Bengaluru Facility
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated an Electric Vehicle testing facility in Bengaluru, highlighting India's push towards self-reliance and renewable energy. The facility aims to ensure EVs meet high-quality standards. Supported by the Department of Consumer Affairs, it marks a significant step for the country's EV manufacturing sector.
India, endowed with talent and potential, must advance its 'Make in India' initiative, according to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. On Thursday, Joshi laid the foundation stone for an Electric Vehicle (EV) testing facility at the National Test House (NTH) in Bengaluru.
Emphasizing the importance of technological innovation, Joshi outlined the government's self-reliance roadmap, noting, 'Every decision by the Narendra Modi government is interconnected and aimed at achieving 'atma nirbharta' (self-reliance).' The event also underlined the government's target of having 30% EVs on Indian roads by 2030, using renewable energy sources, especially solar power.
NTH, under the Department of Consumer Affairs, is expanding its capabilities to support this mission. 'The new facility will ensure EVs meet stringent quality standards,' noted Department of Consumer Affairs Joint Secretary Anupam Mishra. The setup will be a boon for southern India's EV manufacturers, with future expansions planned in Mumbai and Kolkata.
