South Africa's Deputy President Paul Mashatile has expressed the country's keen interest in learning from India's achievements in rural electrification and integrating large-scale renewable energy projects.

Speaking at the New Development Bank's ninth annual board meeting, Mashatile outlined the broader lessons South Africa seeks from its BRICS partners, such as China's rapid renewable energy scaling and Brazil's expertise in hydroelectric power.

He emphasized the importance of investing in new cities to address urban challenges. Mashatile also appreciated the NDB's $5.6 billion loan support, including $2.3 billion for renewable energy projects aiming to contribute 2.8 GW generation capacity and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
