Karnataka Cabinet Boosts Industrial Expansion and Urban Development
The Karnataka cabinet has significantly increased the borrowing limit for KIADB to spur industrial growth. It decided to bifurcate Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation to enhance governance. Additionally, the cabinet has allocated funds to strengthen existing Goshalas and cancelled a major road project in Bengaluru.
The Karnataka cabinet made significant decisions on Thursday, including boosting the borrowing limit for the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) from Rs 500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. This move is in response to the massive land acquisition needed for 24 industrial areas across the state.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil highlighted the cabinet's decision to bifurcate the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, creating a separate governing body for Dharwad. Known for its cultural legacy, Dharwad will soon have an independent Mahanagara Palike.
Additionally, the government has focused on bolstering existing Goshalas with a Rs 10.5 crore allocation, while cancelling the third phase of road white-topping projects in Bengaluru due to project delays.
