Under a Maharashtra government scheme, two solar power projects have been inaugurated in Hiwardi and Keligavan villages of Jalna district, an official announced on Tuesday.

The first project in Hiwardi, with a 6 MW capacity, is operational and provides electricity to 30 villages, benefiting 2,570 agricultural connections. In contrast, the 5 MW Keligavan installation will begin functioning on Wednesday, according to district collector Shrikrishna Panchal.

These initiatives, part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana, target the longstanding demand for consistent daytime electricity by farmers. Sanjay Sarag, Superintending Engineer of MSEDCL in Jalna, highlighted the establishment of 26 solar projects totaling a capacity of 126 MW across the district.
