Cognizant's Leadership Shakeup: Rajesh Varrier Appointed as Global Head and India CMD

Cognizant announced Rajesh Varrier as its new Global Head of Operations and India Chairman & Managing Director. This follows Rajesh Nambiar's departure, who will become Nasscom's new president. Varrier, previously with Infosys, will focus on driving operational excellence and representing Cognizant’s transformation programs in India.

In a significant leadership transition, Cognizant has appointed Rajesh Varrier as the Global Head of Operations and India Chairman and Managing Director. The announcement follows the resignation of Rajesh Nambiar, who is poised to take over as the president of Nasscom.

Nasscom, in its own statement, confirmed Nambiar's appointment, which comes after the conclusion of Debjani Ghosh's term in November 2024. Nambiar's previous stint as chairperson in 2023 underlined his leadership in advancing India's tech sector on the global stage.

As per Cognizant, Varrier's role will encompass various key functions including operations, delivery excellence, and workforce planning. He will operate out of Bangalore and report to CEO Ravi Kumar S, focusing on the company's growth and transformation initiatives in India.
