FBI Investigates Alleged Iranian Hack on Trump Campaign
The FBI is investigating claims by Donald Trump's campaign that their internal communications were hacked. Trump reported that Microsoft informed his campaign about an Iranian hack attempt on one of its websites, though only publicly available information was accessed. Iran denies any involvement.
The FBI has launched an investigation following allegations from Donald Trump's presidential campaign that its internal communications were hacked, attributing the breach to the Iranian government.
Over the weekend, Trump revealed that Microsoft had alerted his campaign about an Iranian hacking attempt on one of its websites, although the intruders only accessed publicly available data. The Iranian government has denied any involvement in the hacking incident.
Microsoft researchers reported that in June, Iranian government-linked hackers tried to break into the account of a high-ranking official within a U.S. presidential campaign. The hackers allegedly took over the account of a former political adviser to target the official, although specific identities remain undisclosed.
