In the lead-up to the second T20 International in the India-Bangladesh series, former cricketer Aakash Chopra has voiced his support for a shift back to tri-nation tournaments. Chopra contends that bilateral series sometimes fall short in delivering the competitive edge desired by broadcasters.
With India securing an initial 1-0 lead after a decisive seven-wicket victory, Chopra remarked on his YouTube channel about the challenges faced when teams underperform during bilateral tours. He suggested that the reintroduction of tri-nation or quadrangular series could invigorate the format with more exciting confrontations.
Chopra further highlighted the need for cricket boards to adopt a more generous financial approach, arguing that mutual cooperation could benefit the evolving dynamics of global cricket. He emphasized the importance of revamping the existing structure to accommodate more competitive series, which would ultimately satisfy both fans and broadcasters.
