The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has marked a significant milestone in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, with leader Tarun Chugh attributing the party's increased vote share to the public's burgeoning confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Chugh shared his insights with ANI on Tuesday, underscoring the electorate's belief in long-term development plans for the region. He emphasized that PM Modi's developmental vision succeeded in garnering more votes than the National Conference.

In a historic achievement, BJP secured 29 seats, surpassing its 2014 record of 25 seats, with a vote share of 25.64 percent, as reported by the Election Commission of India. Chugh extended his gratitude to voters for their trust and assured continued efforts towards achieving a prosperous and peaceful future for Jammu and Kashmir.

Chugh further detailed that BJP received 14.62 lakh votes, overtaking the National Conference's 13.36 lakh votes, highlighting the preference for BJP's development-oriented policies. He remarked on the rejection of the National Conference by 1.4 million voters in favor of PM Modi's vision. In response to criticisms of communal politics by NC, Chugh pointed out BJP's 1.4 lakh vote lead as proof of the public's trust. The National Conference-Congress alliance, however, won an absolute majority with 49 seats, overshadowing BJP's 29-seat victory. Other noteworthy outcomes included PDP's 3 seats and the AAP's entry into the region's political landscape with a win in Handwara by Sajad Gani Lone.
