Another Dutch league match featuring Ajax Amsterdam has been canceled due to the threat of a police strike, the club confirmed on Monday. Sunday's Eredivisie fixture against Utrecht at the Johan Cruyff Arena was called off by city authorities citing security concerns.

"The safety of the players, supporters, and public order in the city cannot be guaranteed without the crucial efforts of the police," the Amsterdam municipality stated. Although playing behind closed doors was considered, the risk of unrest and unsafe situations was deemed too great without police presence.

Ajax expressed disappointment, suggesting that the match could proceed with additional safety measures and agreements. The ongoing police strikes are part of a campaign for improved early retirement conditions, which began in May, and include fewer fines, closing police stations to the public, and noisy protests using sirens.
